Summary

Return to #1 New York Times bestseller Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn world of Scadrial as its second era, which began with The Alloy of Law, comes to its earth-shattering conclusion in The Lost Metal。

For years, frontier lawman turned big-city senator Waxillium Ladrian has hunted the shadowy organization the Set—with his late uncle and his sister among their leaders—since they started kidnapping people with the power of Allomancy in their bloodlines。 When Detective Marasi Colms and her partner Wayne find stockpiled weapons bound for the Outer City of Bilming, this opens a new lead。 Conflict between Elendel and the Outer Cities only favors the Set, and their tendrils now reach to the Elendel Senate—whose corruption Wax and Steris have sought to expose—and Bilming is even more entangled。

After Wax discovers a new type of explosive that can unleash unprecedented destruction and realizes that the Set must already have it, an immortal kandra serving Scadrial’s god reveals that Harmony’s power is blocked in Bilming。 That means the city has fallen under the influence of another god: Trell, worshipped by the Set。 And Trell isn’t the only factor at play from the larger Cosmere—Marasi is recruited by offworlders with strange abilities who claim their goal is to protect Scadrial…at any cost。

Harmony’s vision of future possibilities comes to an abrupt halt tomorrow night, with only blackness after that。 It’s a race against time, and Wax must choose whether to set aside his rocky relationship with God and once again become the Sword that Harmony has groomed him to be。 If no one steps forward to be the hero Scadrial needs, the planet and its millions of people will come to a sudden and calamitous ruin。

THANK YOU NETGALLEY FOR THIS 10 CHAPTER ARC PREVIEW This preview was exactly what I needed - how excited am I to be back in this amazing world that Sanderson has created!Such a great opener with young Wayne (who is one of my favorite characters of all time) and his shining personality, even as a young lad。 But really, all the characters are so special and multi-dimensional and I am so excited to see what happens。 This teaser was a treat, but at the same time, an absolute tease。 So looking forwar THANK YOU NETGALLEY FOR THIS 10 CHAPTER ARC PREVIEW This preview was exactly what I needed - how excited am I to be back in this amazing world that Sanderson has created!Such a great opener with young Wayne (who is one of my favorite characters of all time) and his shining personality, even as a young lad。 But really, all the characters are so special and multi-dimensional and I am so excited to see what happens。 This teaser was a treat, but at the same time, an absolute tease。 So looking forward to this!! :) 。。。more

Finished the ten chapter excerpt and so far so good。 It's vintage Sanderson and my favorite character (Wayne) is up to his usual antics。There's a lot happening but I'll reserve the five stars and complete review for the full book, which I will most certainly buy。 Of course I will…… it's SANDERSON after all!Thank you Netgalley for giving me a sneak peak。 Finished the ten chapter excerpt and so far so good。 It's vintage Sanderson and my favorite character (Wayne) is up to his usual antics。There's a lot happening but I'll reserve the five stars and complete review for the full book, which I will most certainly buy。 Of course I will…… it's SANDERSON after all!Thank you Netgalley for giving me a sneak peak。 。。。more

I was given an extended excerpt of this book in exchange for my honest opinion。 I have been waiting to read this since 2016。 Wax and Wayne are my favourite part of the cosmere and this little taste of what comes next was everything。 The excitement levels were already off the charts but the first ten chapters were incredible。 This book already promises to be a classic Sanderson treat。 November cannot get here fast enough。

jordan!

lol got excited when I saw this on edelweiss, only for it to turn out that the “advanced readers copy” provided is only the first ten chapters。 i feel deceived 😩

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a free preview of this book in exchange for this honest review。I was so pleased to have the opportunity to preview the first ten chapters of The Lost Metal by Brandon Sanderson! I always thoroughly enjoy his books, and the Mistborn Series is one of my favorite fantasy series of all time。 This book is the fourth in the Second Era of the Mistborn series and the seventh overall。 It takes place several years after the conclusion of the previous book, The Bands of Mourning。 Wax, Wayne, Marasi, and Steris are still trying to find the shadowy and powerful organization/cult, the Set, and prevent Elendel from descending into civil war。This may be an unpopular opinion, but I may like the Second Era even better than the first。 The characters are vibrant and I am so fond of them! Steris and Marasi are two of my absolute favorite female characters to ever appear in a fantasy novel。 They are interesting, relatable, and flawed in their own ways。 I adore them! Getting seeing how the relationship between Wax and Steris has developed in this book makes my heart so so happy! I have a feeling Wayne is in for some character development, and I can’t wait to see where that goes。 I’m also excited to see how the mystery plays out。 The initial groundwork in the first ten chapters already has me theorizing。Honestly, the only downside to this preview was that I have to wait until November to read the rest of the book!I really enjoyed reading this preview。 Knowing how the other books went, I know that ten chapters barely scratched the surface of all the plot twists to come。 I’m sure I’ll love the rest of the book even more than what I’ve read so far。 If you enjoy heists, fantasy, well-integrated magic systems, and vast worldbuilding, and you haven’t read the rest of the Mistborn books, then I highly recommend the whole series! Then you too can anxiously await the release of The Lost Metal。 。。。more

Oh gosh, this excerpt is like coming home to a warm house on a cold autumn day。 How much I had missed these characters, I truly had not realised。After a brief peek into Wayne's past, things start off with an explosive bang, both under the streets and in the parliament house。 The book being set six years after the Bands of Mourning shows how tensions between the capital city, the outer cities and the southern continent are simmering away, not far from boiling point。Alas, ten chapters was not enou Oh gosh, this excerpt is like coming home to a warm house on a cold autumn day。 How much I had missed these characters, I truly had not realised。After a brief peek into Wayne's past, things start off with an explosive bang, both under the streets and in the parliament house。 The book being set six years after the Bands of Mourning shows how tensions between the capital city, the outer cities and the southern continent are simmering away, not far from boiling point。Alas, ten chapters was not enough! It wet my appetite for more, bringing me home to Elendel, a home I had not realised I missed until I was back there again。Sanderson writes with such passion, making each character come alive on the page。 I can not wait until the rest of this book is in my hands, so I can fall into my second home once again, and let the richness, the dramatic and brilliant world that Sanderson has created fill me up once again。 。。。more

I read the first 10 chapters of this book and can't wait to read the rest! The Lost Metal takes a time jump from The Bands of Mourning。 It's exciting to see everyone again and find out what they are doing now that they're older and a bit settled down。 Big changes are happening in the capital Elendel now that there is travel and trading with the Southern Continent。Marasi is amazing as always, and I'm glad she's front and center in these beginning chapters。 If you've read Mistborn up until now, of I read the first 10 chapters of this book and can't wait to read the rest! The Lost Metal takes a time jump from The Bands of Mourning。 It's exciting to see everyone again and find out what they are doing now that they're older and a bit settled down。 Big changes are happening in the capital Elendel now that there is travel and trading with the Southern Continent。Marasi is amazing as always, and I'm glad she's front and center in these beginning chapters。 If you've read Mistborn up until now, of course you are going to read this book。 And from what I've read of these chapters, The Lost Metal is going to deliver。 Thanks to Tor Books and NetGalley for access to this extended excerpt。 。。。more

After almost 7 years of waiting, The Lost Metal is one of my most anticipated books of the year。 So when the chance to read an extended excerpt came up—like a small child offered marshmallows who is terrible at delayed gratification—I immediately jumped at it。 I can't give a full review since it's only part 1, but from what I read it's living up to expectations。 Exciting action scenes, great chemistry between characters, and well-placed humor (though some felt slightly more cheesy than I remembe After almost 7 years of waiting, The Lost Metal is one of my most anticipated books of the year。 So when the chance to read an extended excerpt came up—like a small child offered marshmallows who is terrible at delayed gratification—I immediately jumped at it。 I can't give a full review since it's only part 1, but from what I read it's living up to expectations。 Exciting action scenes, great chemistry between characters, and well-placed humor (though some felt slightly more cheesy than I remember)。 And I might recommend a re-read of The Bands of Mourning because there were definitely a couple things mentioned I couldn't remember the particulars of。 。。。more

Intriguing。 There's a lot of set up to get going really quickly, along with enough reminders of what's happened for those of us who haven't reread "Bands of Mourning" recently。 It's only the very beginning of the book, and we're already greeted by our familiar heroes and their interactions, detective work, social investigation and pressures, and explosive action, just as I've come to expect and enjoy from Sanderson, especially in this series。 A couple specific developments in the last book ar Intriguing。 There's a lot of set up to get going really quickly, along with enough reminders of what's happened for those of us who haven't reread "Bands of Mourning" recently。 It's only the very beginning of the book, and we're already greeted by our familiar heroes and their interactions, detective work, social investigation and pressures, and explosive action, just as I've come to expect and enjoy from Sanderson, especially in this series。 A couple specific developments in the last book are looking to develop greatly in this one, and I'm chomping at the bit to see how Wax and the gang resolve their searches and goals, while also being excited to see how Sanderson incorporates discoveries in this entry into both the world of Scadriel and into the Cosmere at large。 I will defintely be looking to buy "The Lost Metal" on release without a moment's hesitation thanks to my trust in Sanderson as an author and thanks to how things are looking to set up and play out in a way that I'm sure will throw me for a loop。 Thank you to Macmillan/Tor-Forge for the Extended Excerpt in exchange for a review。 。。。more

I'm excited to see what Sanderson does with this new novel。 It has a long time jump between books -- just what I love。 I feel like time jumps (when done right, which I have every expectation that this book will) breathe new life into a series, allowing us to explore interesting long-term ramifications and relationships。 The tone is just like what we've gotten out of the other Mistborn Era 2 books: a little goofy, a lot of wordplay, and seriously high stakes。 Thanks to Tor Books and Netgalley for I'm excited to see what Sanderson does with this new novel。 It has a long time jump between books -- just what I love。 I feel like time jumps (when done right, which I have every expectation that this book will) breathe new life into a series, allowing us to explore interesting long-term ramifications and relationships。 The tone is just like what we've gotten out of the other Mistborn Era 2 books: a little goofy, a lot of wordplay, and seriously high stakes。 Thanks to Tor Books and Netgalley for an Excerpt of this book。 。。。more

People have guns in these books by the seventh one? What kind of world do we live in where guns get added to everything? I swear if they add guns to Minecraft it’ll be ruined forever。 Guns suck in books because they sometimes take all the fun out of magic。

I thought this would be my most anticipated release of the year。 I loved Mistborn Era 1 and on my first read fairly enjoyed Era 2。 And then I began my re-read after a good few years。 Now I can't make myself finish Wax & Wayne #2, I'm stuck at 18% or 20% and have to cajole myself to at least finish the damn book。 I simply don't remember Wax being so boring and 1 dimensional! And Wayne。。。 the less I say is better。 I don't find him funny, he's a chore to read and he is so not right in the head, its I thought this would be my most anticipated release of the year。 I loved Mistborn Era 1 and on my first read fairly enjoyed Era 2。 And then I began my re-read after a good few years。 Now I can't make myself finish Wax & Wayne #2, I'm stuck at 18% or 20% and have to cajole myself to at least finish the damn book。 I simply don't remember Wax being so boring and 1 dimensional!
